Aconitum carmichaelii, commonly known as Carmichael's monkshood or Chinese aconite, is a perennial herb native to East Asia. It features tall spikes of blue or purple hooded flowers and deeply lobed leaves. The plant is highly toxic due to alkaloids like aconitine, which can be fatal if ingested. It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine but requires extreme caution. Prefers moist, well-drained soil and partial shade. Blooms in late summer to fall.
