Aconitum lycoctonum, commonly known as wolfsbane or northern wolfsbane, is a perennial herbaceous plant in the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae). It is native to Europe and Asia, thriving in mountainous regions and damp woodlands. The plant produces tall spikes of yellow or pale yellow flowers and has deeply lobed leaves. All parts of the plant are highly toxic due to the presence of alkaloids like aconitine, which can be fatal if ingested. Historically, it was used in traditional medicine and as a poison. It attracts pollinators but should be handled with extreme caution.
