Hamamelis virginiana, commonly known as American witch-hazel, is a deciduous shrub native to eastern North America. It blooms in late fall with fragrant yellow flowers and has medicinal properties, often used in astringents and skincare products. The leaves turn yellow in autumn, and its fruit capsules eject seeds explosively when ripe. It thrives in moist, well-drained soils and partial shade.
