Mentha spicata, commonly known as spearmint, is a perennial herb in the mint family (Lamiaceae). It is native to Europe and Asia but widely cultivated for its aromatic leaves. The plant grows up to 30–100 cm tall, with lance-shaped leaves and small pink or white flowers. Spearmint is used in cooking, teas, and aromatherapy due to its refreshing flavor and scent. It prefers moist, well-drained soil and partial shade. The leaves contain essential oils like carvone, giving it a milder taste compared to peppermint.
