Ribes rubrum, commonly known as red currant, is a deciduous shrub native to parts of western Europe. It produces small, tart, bright red berries in summer, often used in jams, jellies, and desserts. The plant prefers cool climates and well-drained soil, growing up to 1.5 meters tall. Its lobed leaves and greenish-yellow flowers make it an attractive garden plant. Red currants are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants.
