Aronia melanocarpa, commonly known as black chokeberry, is a deciduous shrub native to eastern North America. It produces clusters of white flowers in spring, followed by dark purple-black berries rich in antioxidants. The plant thrives in full sun to partial shade and prefers moist, well-drained soil. Its berries are tart but edible, often used in jams, juices, and supplements. The foliage turns vibrant red in autumn, adding ornamental value. It is hardy, disease-resistant, and attracts pollinators.
