Ribes nigrum, commonly known as blackcurrant, is a deciduous shrub native to Europe and parts of Asia. It produces small, dark purple to black berries rich in vitamin C and antioxidants. The plant has lobed leaves and greenish-white flowers. Blackcurrants are used in jams, juices, and medicinal products. They prefer cool climates and well-drained soil. The plant is also valued for its aromatic leaves, which can be used in teas.
