Abies lasiocarpa, commonly known as the subalpine fir, is a North American conifer found in mountainous regions. It grows up to 20–35 meters tall with a narrow, spire-like crown. The needles are blue-green with white bands underneath. It thrives in cold climates and is often used for timber, paper, and as an ornamental tree. Its bark is smooth and gray when young, becoming rough with age.
