Amelanchier laevis, commonly known as Allegheny serviceberry or smooth serviceberry, is a deciduous shrub or small tree native to eastern North America. It produces white flowers in spring, followed by edible purple-black berries. The leaves are smooth, oval, and turn red or orange in fall. It thrives in well-drained soils and full sun to partial shade, attracting birds and pollinators. Ideal for ornamental or wildlife gardens.
