Rubus idaeus, commonly known as raspberry, is a perennial plant in the rose family (Rosaceae). It produces edible sweet-tart berries, typically red but also found in black, purple, or yellow varieties. The plant has woody stems with thorns and prefers well-drained soil and full sun. Raspberries are rich in vitamins, antioxidants, and fiber, making them popular for fresh consumption, jams, and desserts. They grow in temperate regions and spread via underground runners.
