Salix alba, commonly known as white willow, is a deciduous tree native to Europe and western Asia. It grows up to 25 meters tall, with narrow, lance-shaped leaves and grayish-white bark. Known for its medicinal properties, its bark contains salicin, a compound similar to aspirin. It thrives in moist soils and is often found near rivers or wetlands. The tree is also valued for its flexible wood, used in basketry and furniture.
