Sloe (Prunus spinosa)

Prunus spinosa, commonly known as blackthorn or sloe, is a deciduous shrub native to Europe, western Asia, and northwest Africa. It produces small white flowers in early spring before the leaves appear, followed by dark blue-black fruits called sloes. The plant is known for its dense, thorny branches and is often used in hedgerows. The tart sloes are used to make sloe gin and preserves. It thrives in well-drained soils and full sun to partial shade.
