Daucus carota, commonly known as wild carrot or Queen Anne's lace, is a flowering plant in the Apiaceae family. It is the wild ancestor of the cultivated carrot. It features white, lacy flowers and a distinctive purple or red central floret. The plant is biennial, growing up to 1 meter tall, with feathery leaves and a taproot. It thrives in temperate regions and is often found in meadows, roadsides, and disturbed soils. While the root is edible when young, it becomes woody with age. The plant attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies.
