Iris versicolor, commonly known as the harlequin blueflag or northern blue flag, is a perennial flowering plant native to North America. It thrives in wetlands, marshes, and along shorelines. It features striking blue to purple flowers with yellow and white markings, blooming in late spring to early summer. The plant grows 2-3 feet tall with sword-shaped leaves. It attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies and is often used in water gardens or naturalized landscapes. It is toxic if ingested.
