Chamaecyparis pisifera, commonly known as Sawara cypress, is a coniferous evergreen tree native to Japan. It features soft, feathery foliage with scale-like leaves and can grow up to 35 meters tall. Popular in landscaping for its ornamental value, it has several cultivars with varying colors and forms, including dwarf varieties. Prefers moist, well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. Hardy in USDA zones 4-8.
