Cydonia oblonga, commonly known as quince, is a deciduous tree or shrub in the Rosaceae family. It produces fragrant, golden-yellow fruits used in cooking, especially for jams and jellies. The tree has pink or white flowers and thrives in temperate climates. Quince fruits are hard and tart when raw but soften and sweeten when cooked.
