Mountain laurel (Kalmia latifolia 'Nani')

Kalmia latifolia, commonly known as mountain laurel, is a flowering evergreen shrub native to the eastern United States. It features glossy, dark green leaves and clusters of pink or white cup-shaped flowers with unique markings. Blooming in late spring to early summer, it thrives in acidic, well-drained soils and partial shade. All parts of the plant are toxic if ingested. It is popular in ornamental landscaping and is the state flower of Connecticut and Pennsylvania.
