Skimmia japonica is an evergreen shrub native to Japan, China, and Southeast Asia. It features glossy green leaves, fragrant white or pinkish flowers in spring, and bright red berries in fall and winter. It thrives in partial shade and well-drained soil, making it popular for gardens and containers. Both male and female plants are needed for berry production. It is deer-resistant and low-maintenance.
