Cryptomeria japonica, commonly known as Japanese cedar or sugi, is a coniferous evergreen tree native to Japan. It can grow up to 70 meters tall with reddish-brown bark and needle-like leaves. Valued for its durable, fragrant wood, it is often used in construction and furniture. It thrives in moist, well-drained soils and prefers temperate climates. The tree is also culturally significant in Japan.
