Thuja occidentalis, commonly known as northern white cedar or eastern arborvitae, is an evergreen coniferous tree native to North America. It grows in moist, cool climates and is often used for hedges, windbreaks, and ornamental landscaping. The tree has scale-like leaves, small cones, and aromatic wood. It is valued for its durability, resistance to decay, and dense foliage. Popular cultivars include 'Smaragd' (Emerald Green) and 'Degroot's Spire'.
