Vicia sativa, commonly known as common vetch or garden vetch, is an annual legume plant. It is widely cultivated as a forage crop and for green manure due to its nitrogen-fixing ability. The plant has pinnate leaves, purple or pink flowers, and produces pods containing seeds. It thrives in temperate climates and improves soil fertility. It is also used in crop rotation systems.
