Euonymus japonicus, commonly known as Japanese spindle or evergreen spindle, is a flowering shrub native to Japan, Korea, and China. It features glossy, dark green leaves and small greenish-white flowers. It is often used in hedges and landscaping due to its dense foliage and tolerance to pruning. The plant can grow up to 3-5 meters tall and prefers full sun to partial shade. It is hardy in USDA zones 6-9. Some varieties have variegated leaves. Note that all parts of the plant are toxic if ingested.
