Platycodon grandiflorus, commonly known as balloon flower, is a perennial plant native to East Asia. It features blue, purple, or white star-shaped flowers that bloom from balloon-like buds. The plant grows 30–90 cm tall and thrives in well-drained soil with full sun to partial shade. Its roots are used in traditional medicine for respiratory ailments. Hardy in USDA zones 3–8, it blooms in summer and attracts pollinators.
