Adonis annua, also known as pheasant's eye or autumn adonis, is an annual flowering plant native to Europe and Western Asia. It belongs to the Ranunculaceae family and produces bright red flowers with dark centers. It blooms in late spring to early summer and prefers well-drained soils in sunny locations. The plant is toxic if ingested due to cardiac glycosides. It is sometimes grown as an ornamental but is also considered a weed in some regions.
