Gleditsia triacanthos, commonly known as honey locust, is a deciduous tree native to central North America. It grows up to 20–30 meters tall and has pinnately compound leaves. The tree is known for its long, sharp thorns and produces fragrant, greenish-yellow flowers in spring, followed by flat, twisted seed pods. It is drought-tolerant and often used in landscaping for its light shade and ornamental value. The wood is hard and durable, used for furniture and fence posts.
