Dianthus barbatus, commonly known as Sweet William, is a flowering plant in the carnation family (Caryophyllaceae). It is a biennial or short-lived perennial with clusters of small, fragrant flowers in shades of pink, red, white, or purple. Native to southern Europe, it blooms in late spring to early summer and attracts pollinators like butterflies. Prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. Often used in gardens and floral arrangements.
