Catalpa bignonioides, commonly known as the Southern Catalpa or Indian Bean Tree, is a deciduous tree native to the southeastern United States. It features large, heart-shaped leaves, showy white flowers with purple and yellow markings, and long, bean-like seed pods. It thrives in moist, well-drained soils and is often planted as an ornamental tree. The tree is hardy and can tolerate a range of conditions, including urban environments. Its flowers attract pollinators, while the seed pods persist into winter, adding seasonal interest.
