Lythrum salicaria, commonly known as purple loosestrife, is a perennial wetland plant native to Europe and Asia. It features tall spikes of magenta flowers and lance-shaped leaves. Considered invasive in North America, it disrupts ecosystems by outcompeting native plants. It thrives in moist soils and can grow up to 2 meters tall. Control measures are often necessary to prevent its spread.
