Common yew (Taxus baccata)

Taxus baccata, commonly known as the English yew, is a slow-growing evergreen conifer native to Europe, North Africa, and parts of Asia. It has dark green needle-like leaves and produces red, berry-like arils (seed coverings) that are poisonous except for the fleshy part. The tree is highly toxic due to taxine alkaloids, but its wood is valued for woodworking. It is often used in hedges and topiary due to its dense foliage and tolerance for pruning.
