Euonymus europaeus, commonly known as European spindle, is a deciduous shrub or small tree native to Europe. It grows up to 6 meters tall and features greenish flowers, pink-red fruits, and distinctive orange seeds. The leaves turn bright red in autumn. It is often used in hedges and landscaping but is toxic if ingested. The wood is hard and was historically used for spindles and skewers.
