Erica carnea, commonly known as winter heath or spring heath, is a low-growing evergreen shrub native to the Alps and other mountainous regions of Europe. It blooms in late winter to early spring, producing small bell-shaped flowers in shades of pink, white, or purple. This hardy plant thrives in well-drained acidic soil and full sun to partial shade, making it ideal for rock gardens or ground cover. It is drought-tolerant once established and attracts pollinators like bees.
