Ageratina altissima, commonly known as white snakeroot, is a perennial herb native to eastern North America. It grows in shaded woodlands and produces clusters of small white flowers in late summer to fall. The plant is toxic to humans and livestock, containing tremetol, which can cause milk sickness if ingested. It thrives in moist, well-drained soils and can reach heights of 1-1.5 meters. Historically, it was linked to the death of Abraham Lincoln's mother.
