Itea virginica, commonly known as Virginia sweetspire, is a deciduous shrub native to the southeastern United States. It grows 3-6 feet tall and produces fragrant white flowers in summer. Its foliage turns vibrant red in fall. Prefers moist, acidic soil and partial shade but tolerates full sun. Attracts pollinators and is deer-resistant.
