Hydrangea arborescens, commonly known as smooth hydrangea or wild hydrangea, is a deciduous shrub native to the eastern United States. It features large, rounded clusters of white or greenish-white flowers that bloom in summer. This plant prefers partial shade and moist, well-drained soil. It is hardy and low-maintenance, often used in gardens for its showy blooms. The cultivar 'Annabelle' is particularly popular for its large, white flower heads.
