Salix purpurea, commonly known as purple willow or purple osier, is a deciduous shrub native to Europe and western Asia. It features slender, flexible branches with a purple hue, narrow blue-green leaves, and small catkins in early spring. It thrives in moist soils, often used for erosion control, basketry, and ornamental purposes. Hardy and fast-growing, it tolerates pruning well.
