Parrot's bill (Clianthus puniceus)

Clianthus puniceus, commonly known as the kaka beak or parrot's beak, is a flowering plant native to New Zealand. It features striking red or pink claw-shaped flowers resembling a parrot's beak, blooming in spring and summer. This evergreen shrub prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. It is endangered in the wild due to habitat loss and browsing by introduced animals. Often grown ornamentally, it attracts birds, especially nectar feeders. Requires protection from frost and strong winds.
