Alternanthera aquatica, also known as water joyweed, is an aquatic or semi-aquatic plant in the Amaranthaceae family. It thrives in wetlands, ponds, and marshy areas, often forming dense mats. The plant has lance-shaped leaves and small white flowers. It is sometimes used in aquariums or water gardens but can become invasive in some regions. Native to tropical and subtropical areas, it spreads rapidly in favorable conditions.
