Hamamelis vernalis, commonly known as Ozark witch hazel, is a deciduous shrub native to the central United States. It blooms in late winter to early spring with fragrant yellow to reddish flowers. The plant prefers moist, well-drained soil and partial shade to full sun. It is valued for its early blooms, attractive fall foliage, and use in traditional medicine. Hardy in USDA zones 4-8.
