Magnolia x soulangiana, commonly known as saucer magnolia, is a hybrid of M. denudata and M. liliiflora. It is a deciduous tree prized for its large, showy pink-purple flowers that bloom in early spring before the leaves emerge. It grows 20-30 feet tall and prefers full sun to partial shade with well-drained soil. Hardy in USDA zones 4-9.
