Hakonechloa macra, commonly known as Japanese forest grass or Hakone grass, is a shade-loving ornamental grass native to Japan. It features arching, bamboo-like foliage in shades of green, gold, or variegated. Prefers moist, well-drained soil and partial to full shade. Grows 12-18 inches tall, spreading slowly. Ideal for borders, ground cover, or containers. Hardy in USDA zones 5-9.
