The Platanus x hispanica, commonly known as the London plane tree, is a hybrid of Platanus orientalis and Platanus occidentalis. It is widely planted in urban areas due to its tolerance to pollution and compacted soils. The tree features large, maple-like leaves, flaky bark, and spherical seed clusters. It grows rapidly and can reach heights of 20–35 meters. Often used for shade and ornamental purposes, it thrives in temperate climates.
