Paeonia lactiflora, commonly known as the Chinese peony or common garden peony, is a herbaceous perennial native to central and eastern Asia. It features large, fragrant flowers in shades of white, pink, or red, blooming in late spring to early summer. The plant grows up to 3 feet tall with lush green foliage and prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. It is widely cultivated for ornamental purposes and has medicinal uses in traditional Chinese medicine.
