Zelkova carpinifolia, commonly known as Caucasian elm or Caucasian zelkova, is a deciduous tree native to the Caucasus region and northern Iran. It grows up to 30 meters tall with a broad crown and smooth, gray bark. The leaves resemble those of hornbeam (Carpinus), hence the name "carpinifolia." It produces small, inconspicuous flowers and nut-like fruits. Valued for its ornamental and timber qualities, it is drought-tolerant and prefers well-drained soils.
