Pseudosasa japonica, commonly known as Japanese arrow bamboo, is a hardy, evergreen bamboo native to Japan and Korea. It grows up to 4-5 meters tall with thick, upright culms and dense foliage. Its leaves are large, glossy, and lance-shaped. This bamboo thrives in partial shade to full sun and prefers moist, well-drained soil. It is often used for hedging, screening, or ornamental purposes due to its dense growth habit. It spreads via rhizomes but is less invasive than other bamboos. Tolerant of cold and urban conditions, it is a popular choice for gardens.
