Dryopteris affinis, commonly known as the golden-scaled male fern, is a semi-evergreen fern native to Europe. It features lance-shaped fronds with golden-brown scales on the stems. Thriving in shady, moist environments, it grows up to 1.2 meters tall and is often used in woodland gardens. Hardy and low-maintenance, it prefers well-drained, humus-rich soil.
