Paeonia officinalis, commonly known as the common peony or garden peony, is a perennial flowering plant native to Europe. It features large, fragrant blooms in shades of pink, red, or white, typically appearing in late spring to early summer. The plant has lobed leaves and grows up to 60-70 cm tall. It prefers well-drained soil and full sun to partial shade. Historically used in herbal medicine, it is now mainly cultivated for ornamental purposes. It is hardy and low-maintenance, making it popular in gardens.
