Juniperus communis, commonly known as common juniper, is a coniferous evergreen shrub or small tree. It has needle-like leaves and produces small, berry-like cones used as a spice (juniper berries). It thrives in temperate and subarctic regions, often in poor soils. The plant is valued for its aromatic wood, berries, and ornamental use in landscaping. Some species are also used in gin production.
